"The goal of my work is to find the moment in life that expresses most clearly an idea, subject or theme.  I feel that moment can be expressed strongly through realism.  Even though in order for a painting to work it has to have an under-current of abstract power; for that power keeps the painting fluid until that moment of emotion is right, and then I tighten up to lock the subject in."    Robert L.
